Course Description

This course is suitable for those wishing to learn more about preparation for going to altitude.  During this altitude awareness course we look at how to prepare for travel to altitude along with recognition and treatment of all the major altitude illness: Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema (HAPE) and High Altitude Cerebral Oedema (HACE). Course tutors have experience of being at altitude and dealing with all altitude illness.

This type of course would be a useful CPD module which is certificated with clear learning outcomes.  It would suit more advanced National Governing Body qualifications such as Mountaineering Instructor Award – MIA , Mountaineering Instructor Certificate – MIC and British Mountain Guide or for those with qualifications connected to The British Association of International Mountain Leaders This course would also benefit anyone who may be going trekking alone or on an organised trip.
