Course Description

This first aid course is for those who have previously attended the First Aid at Work three-day course.  On completion of the course and passing the final assessment, a certificate is issued that is valid for three years.  Included in the course fee is a one day refresher each year until year three when another two-day course renews the cycle.

This course is a practical, interactive course using active learning methods.  The training is punctuated with practical scenarios to develop skills and retain knowledge. Some of the practical sessions take place outside as not all casualties collapse inside a building. Topics covered on the First Aid at Work three-day course are refreshed and updates on any recent guidelines are included.  The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) has issued guidelines on first aid which are included in this course. We discuss the use of haemostats on this course and tourniquets.  Tourniquets may not be needed in some work place first aid kits but haemostats have a valuable place in any first aid kit.  Major bleeds are not always associated with machinery and could include a fall  that can be quickly arrested by the use of haemostats. There are many products on the market now that stop bleeds and some need little training, hence their use is included on this course.   Some haemostats need further training so we offer this in addition to this course on the Celox and Tourniquet course.
