The Cardiovascular System

The main functions of the cardiovascular system are:

  • Transport of nutrients, such as oxygen, glucose, fatty acids and water
  • Removal of waste products from metabolic processes, such as carbon dioxide, urea and creatin
  • Hormonal control, by secreting hormones to their target organs
