Not again! Lockdown 3. Frec 3 Blended Learning. New Dates
The blended learning for First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) is going well. As we are now on another lockdown we have more dates for the FREC 3 Theory by Zoom with a Tutor. You will be able to complete the two full dates practical on-site when safe to attend: we will have more guidance on this on 6th January.
The chart gives you an overview on dates and you can either send an email with your preferred dates to info@highpeakfirstaid.co.uk and we will organise payment with you. Alternatively you can book here
Outdoor First Aid Blended Learning
Blended Outdoor First Aid Course
Learn First Aid Skills for Outdoor and Remote Environments
At High Peak First Aid, we specialise in Outdoor First Aid and Wilderness First Aid. With over 24 years of experience delivering training for remote and challenging environments, we understand how important it is to stay up to date.
The COVID pandemic brought significant changes to how we train. In response, we now offer a blended learning version of our 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course. This format allows you to complete part of the training online before attending a one-day practical session at our centre in the Peak District.
Why Choose Our Blended Outdoor First Aid Course
Flexible and High Quality
This option allows you to learn vital skills while staying safe. Many learners need to requalify to stay in work, especially in sectors that do not allow for furlough or remote alternatives. Some regulated qualifications received extensions, but Outdoor First Aid did not. That makes flexible access to accredited training more important than ever.
We have already delivered many successful blended FREC 3 courses. Building on that success, we are proud to offer the same approach for Outdoor First Aid.
Recognised by Leading Organisations
We worked closely with national organisations to ensure this course meets all expected standards. These include:
- The Institute for Outdoor Learning
- The First Aid Awarding Organisations Forum
- The Health and Safety Executive
Although there is no strict rule on how much content can be online, our fifty-fifty structure provides a strong balance between digital learning and practical experience.
What the Course Includes
Our blended Outdoor First Aid course includes:
- Four hours of live Zoom training with a qualified tutor
- Four hours of self-paced online learning through our platform
- One full day of in-person, scenario-based practical training
You can revisit the online content at any time for up to three years. If illness or changing restrictions affect your attendance, we will move your booking at no extra cost.
Hands-On Training with Safety in Mind
You will still receive the same high-quality practical instruction. We use full-body training mannequins, realistic outdoor scenarios, and a purpose-built immersive classroom. Group sizes are kept small, with a maximum of six learners, to ensure personalised support and a safe learning environment.
This is not just a basic video course. You will engage fully with outdoor-focused scenarios, tutor feedback, and interactive learning.
Why We Combine Indoor and Outdoor Learning
We have delivered fully outdoor training in the past. While it can be effective in summer, colder weather often reduces focus and learning. That is why we now combine indoor learning with outdoor scenarios on our private land. This approach provides the best learning outcomes year-round.
Our Peak District Training Centre
Our facilities include:
- A spacious, well-ventilated classroom
- A purpose-built immersive training room
- Direct access to private woodland and open terrain
This environment allows us to simulate outdoor incidents while keeping your learning experience focused and practical.
A Trusted Provider with Proven Results
We have trained over 36,000 learners in Outdoor First Aid. Our lead trainer holds a postgraduate degree in Risk and Crisis Management and is known for delivering training that prepares people to respond effectively in outdoor and remote environments.
We do not aim to be the cheapest. Our goal is to deliver lasting confidence and excellent value.
Why You Should Book Now
COVID continues to influence how we work and train. Many professionals still require valid first aid certification, especially those working outdoors or in remote locations. As activity increases again, demand for courses is rising.
Booking now helps you stay compliant with Health and Safety Executive guidance. If you need local accommodation, we can recommend trusted providers who welcome bookings for work or education purposes.

Another lockdown on the way? Our FREC 3 promise.
We have been providing our blended FREC 3 courses over the past few months. This consists of 10 x 2hr Modules via Zoom for theory with a Tutor. The theory is a mix of videos, quizzes and discussions followed by two days on-site for practical work and assessments. We have completed a number of courses this way now and it is a great way to get started. Theory is theory and has to be done and far better if your own home, with a cup of tea and snacks than sat in a classroom wearing a mask.
The other bonus is that if you live more than a daily drive away from our centre in the Peak District, you only have two days of accommodation to pay for. COVID restrictions and lockdowns change rapidly, so at least you get the theory done at home and if you cannot make the two days on-site for practicals and assessments we move you to the next date. You have twenty weeks to complete the FREC 3. We promise to leave nobody behind, so if you start with us we will ensure you complete the training.
Below is an overview of the January dates. More will be added for February onwards. If you cannot make our advertised dates, please email as we can accommodate you. The next two dates on-site are January 23-24 and February 13-14.
If you need to spread the cost, each module is £59.40 and when all ten are paid for this also includes your two days on-site.
You can book each module here
Alternatively, please email info@highpeakfirstaid.co.uk with your dates and we will send over our bank details. We are not closing over the holidays so all emails are replied to every day and evening.
Additional FREC 3 dates
Blended learning for FREC 3 has been going ahead over the last couple of weeks. It has received positive feedback. Participants have stated they appreciate the pre-course preparation on our learning portal and the short, tutor-led sessions. They also appreciate having the opportunity to receive the module material on the learning portal. So, in effect, there are three opportunities to cover the information. We make our own videos, so they are relevant and to the point. We also use other media, such as YouTube, where appropriate.
You can spread the modules out over a number of weeks. I have put an overview of the additional and new dates below. Each module is £59.40. You pay for them all at once. Alternatively, if needed, you can pay as you go to spread the cost. The cost of the two days on-site for the practicals and assessments is already paid for within the 10 x 2hr theory modules.
We have to do theory as part of FREC 3. Under the current situation, staying at home and meeting others via your PC and learning is a great option.
