first aid courses

First Response Emergency Care Level 3

We now have two courses a month for the FREC 3 qualification.  The qualification is on the Regulated Qualification Framework and overseen by the Awarding Body, Qualsafe.

Employers in the Security Industry are increasingly asking for security staff to take the FREC suite of qualifications to validate their first aid skills for working in remote or austere environments.  The FREC 3 can be used by any person wishing to gain a regulated qualification in first aid that gives them a solid grounding on which to build further skills.  If your job involves working overseas you have the option of achieving a recognised qualification and combining this with post-course work connected to your environment.  High Peak First Aid can assist you with modules from our High Peak Wilderness First Aid Expedition Leader 24hr course.  For example you may be going to altitude so we give you access to our resources on altitude to develop your knowledge.  For expedition leaders going on remote trips who may be taking a medical professional, there is the option to develop your post course knowledge with modules from the High Peak Wilderness First Aid Expedition Leader 40hr course,

There is the option to pay by instalments for the FREC 3 qualification and we have a First Response Emergency Care Level 4 course in September.  FREC 3 is £594 inc VAT and FREC 4 is £630, however, for both courses booked, there is the option to pay by instalments and receive a discount.  If you are interested in the FREC 3 please see dates on the FREC 3 page.  If you would like to discuss both the FREC 3 and FREC 4, please contact nicola@highpeakfirstaid.co.uk or call 01433 621484/07931 360328.

Eight outdoor first aid courses a month

High Peak First Aid has eight outdoor first aid courses running every month.  These first aid courses for the outdoors are recognised and have been accepted by the major governing bodies for the past twenty years.  These governing bodies are the British Canoeing, Mountain Training, MBCUK, MIAS and British Caving Association. For a complete list please contact us.  At High Peak First Aid, we named our outdoor courses wilderness first aid back in 2001.  A wilderness environment is defined as a remote location an hour from definitive medical care.  These wilderness first aid courses are suitable for those who may need to perform first aid in a remote environment or under hazardous conditions.

For those who are leading groups on expeditions in remote areas, we offer modular based first aid courses.  The three-day wilderness first aid course is a favourite for many universities who are sending students and lecturers on field trips.  The High Peak Wilderness First Aid Modules 4 and 5 are categorised as medic assist and ensure a participant is a valuable assistant to a qualified expedition medic. The High Peak Wilderness First Aid Modules 1-5 are held once a month and include the Haemostat and Tourniquet training to comply with current guidelines for the outdoors and industry.

Training in the use of Haemostats such as Celox, the Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet (MAT Tourniquet) and Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT Tourniquet) takes place regularly at our training facility at Hope, in the Peak District.  We are now providing the Haemostat and Tourniquet training every Tuesday and every Friday:  courses are guaranteed to run.  We can also travel out to your venue to provide training to enable participants to deal with life threatening bleeding. We have ample free parking on site and are ideally placed for public transport by train with links to Manchester and Sheffield, so within easy access of Manchester Airport.

High Peak First Aid Supplies

High Peak First Aid Supplies is based at the same address as High Peak First Aid Training.  In addition to our classroom’s we have a large office space where all our first aid supplies are packed and posted out.  We are currently reviewing our postage and are looking to make some items postage free as well as offering the option to pick up goods.  In addition to this, our PDF price list is almost finished and new items are almost ready for showing in the shop area.

We have a varied selection of stock that is suitable for equipping a first aid room from Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) to eye pads.  There is also a good selection of first aid kits for the outdoors, so if you are involved in any outdoor activities then we will have a suitable first aid kit for you.  If you are attending any assessments for Single Pitch Award (SPA), Mountain Leader Summer or Winter then we can provide you with robust first aid kits that will withstand the outdoor environment. We have a selection of first aid kits for Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards that contain burn dressings which is a requirement under the D of E guidelines. If you work in a high risk environment we now stock the full range of Celox and always have tourniquets in stock as well as trauma dressings.

By attending a first aid course at High Peak First Aid participants will have the opportunity to use some of the products we have for sale and to receive discounted prices. In addition to this we have a first aid kit module on each course so depending on which High Peak Wilderness First Aid Module is chosen a participant will gain a thorough understanding on what to put in a first aid kit.  Attendance on First Aid at Work courses or outdoor courses allows access to free CPD events such as Celox and Tourniquet training.

High Peak First Aid Supplies

High Peak First Aid Supplies has almost finished our new price list for a comprehensive range of first aid supplies.  In addition to this our webshop is filling up with products that we will shortly release for you to purchase.  Our complete range will have first aid kits for the workplace and for those who need first aid kits for the outdoor environment.  We will have dedicated sections for outdoor first aid, forestry first aid and remote area first aid to name a few. These sections will have bespoke kits that are more cost effective to buy as opposed to the individual items.  There will also be a complete range of Celox and tourniquets for the arrest of major haemorrhage.

If you attend a course at High Peak First Aid we also offer you free Celox and Tourniquet training, additional Emergency First Aid at Work (6hrs) certification for free and a discount on any first aid supplies bought on the day.  On select courses such as The High Peak Wilderness First Aid Modules 1-5 we have special offers on bundles of first aid supplies for those working in remote or hostile environments.

Over the next few weeks we will be posting new products in the latest new section.

Free Celox Training

Free Celox training is available for any previous participant on a High Peak First Aid course.  This offer is limited until October 2016:  after this date a course fee will apply.  However, the Celox training can be taken as a bolt on Module to First Aid at Work, and is incorporated into Wilderness First Aid Expedition Leader Module 3, 4 and 5.

For people who have not attended a course at High Peak First Aid, you are welcome to join us and pay the course joining fee for Celox training.  By charging a fee we can provide courses for small numbers and do not have to wait for a course to fill to make it viable.  Staff are working in the office, so to take a break and provide training is no trouble at all. The course fee also covers certification, tea and coffee and the use of the Celox in the practical sessions.
