Scenarios
As part of our courses we use practical scenarios to reinforce the skills already learnt. Scenarios have a progressive structure dictated by the pace of the course participants. The scenarios take place around our venue in Hope. We have access to woods, steep ground and water.
We aim to make the scenarios as realistic as possible by use of props and moulage (fake wounds and blood). The moulage that we use is not time consuming and does not stain clothes or skin. Clean clothes are issued to wear over the top of your existing attire allowing the moulage to show through and to prevent any damage to your clothes.
The scenarios are designed to be a positive learning experience, so if your acting skills leave a lot to be desired nobody will be coerced into roles that they feel uncomfortable with. We have a high pass rate on our courses, however if we were providing acting courses we would need to fail most of our clients! So, just remember you are also there to enjoy yourself.
For the Wilderness First Aid Advanced and Wilderness First Aid Expedition Course there is the option of having trained casualties. However, on all courses we use the participants as casualties as we have found that you benefit by being on the receiving end of treatment!
